Beinhaus Hallstatt - Skulls

Our preferred type of jewelry (aka Biker, Gothic or Rock style) originated from old school churches. Below is a photo of bleached skulls, decorated with Old English lettering, Cross motifs and Crowns, at Beinhaus (bone house) in Hallstatt - Austria.

The skulls of Beinhaus, also known as the bone house, are a unique and fascinating attraction located in the small Austrian town of Hallstatt. The Beinhaus is a chapel located next to the parish church of Hallstatt, which houses the skulls of around 1,200 people who lived in the area between the 13th and 19th centuries. The skulls are arranged in various artistic patterns and designs, creating a haunting yet beautiful display.

The origins of the Beinhaus and its collection of skulls can be traced back to the 12th century when Hallstatt was an important center for salt mining. As the town grew and became more prosperous, space in the church cemetery became limited, and the bones of the deceased were exhumed and stored in the Beinhaus to make room for new burials. Over time, the skulls were separated from the rest of the bones and arranged in artistic patterns on the walls of the chapel.

Today, the Beinhaus has become a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world. While some may find the idea of a bone house macabre or disturbing, the skulls are actually treated with great reverence and respect by the people of Hallstatt. In fact, many of the skulls have names and stories associated with them, passed down through generations of families who lived in the area.

One of the most striking aspects of the Beinhaus is the way in which the skulls are arranged. Some are stacked in neat rows, while others are arranged in intricate patterns and designs, such as hearts, crosses, and even the initials of the deceased. The skulls are also painted with floral designs and other symbols, adding to the artistic beauty of the display.

Despite its macabre nature, the Beinhaus serves as a powerful reminder of the transience of life and the importance of remembering those who came before us. The skulls are a tangible link to the past, a reminder of the lives that were lived and the people who once walked the streets of Hallstatt. By preserving and displaying these skulls, the people of Hallstatt are ensuring that their ancestors are not forgotten and that their legacy will live on for generations to come. Through their careful preservation and display, the skulls serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering the past and honoring those who came before us.

Jewelry with Messages

A simple band ring can hold immense meaning and sentimental value, often treasured more than its monetary worth. The message engraved on the ring can convey a personal statement, making it a significant piece of jewelry for the wearer. Such rings can also be great conversation starters, inviting others to learn more about the message behind the ring.

Many people mistakenly believe that jewelry is exclusively for women. However, history tells us that men have worn jewelry for centuries. Signet rings, for example, have been a staple for men throughout history, often bearing the family crest or other symbols of significance. Championship rings, too, are highly prized by professional athletes, and many men take pride in wearing them as a testament to their achievements.

In the past, warriors adorned their armor and weapons with precious metals and intricate engravings, while rulers of nations wore crowns made of gold and gemstones. Even priests wore highly crafted and gem-set gold breastplates. The examples of men wearing jewelry throughout history are numerous, and it is only in recent times that it has become somewhat stigmatized.

(Carpe Diem and Memento Mori band rings from Quetzal Jewelry)

When a man reaches a certain level of success, it is common for him to purchase expensive items such as a luxury watch, a fancy car, or membership to a country club. However, upon his death, it is often the jewelry that becomes the subject of family squabbles. Instead of leaving behind a large bank account or real estate, why not pass on an heirloom with deep personal meaning, such as a ring or bracelet engraved with a favorite quote or Bible verse?

Wearing a jewelry piece with a message engraved on it is also a great way to exercise your Freedom of Speech. The message on your ring can convey your beliefs, values, or any other personal statement you wish to make. And if, at some point down the line, the message no longer holds the same meaning for you, it is easy to replace the ring with a new message. The same cannot be said for tattoos, which are permanent and often more difficult to change.

Men's jewelry is nothing new, and a simple band ring or pendant can hold great personal significance. Instead of leaving behind a large sum of money or property, consider passing on a piece of jewelry with a personal message engraved on it, to be treasured by future generations. And in wearing a ring with a message, you are expressing your personal beliefs and values.

Ring story recently makes headlines
An individual returns four rings, stolen from a house party, 15 years after the incident, along with an apology letter. The rings had sentimental value, including a wedding band and a diamond ring celebrating the birth of a child, as well as, a set of grandparents' wedding bands.  Below is a photo of the letter.

I Deal with Packages and Kilos

I deal with packages and kilos. I go by a street name and I deal at every level of the game. My trade is a billion dollar industry, from the extraction of materials from the soil, to manufacturing, distribution and sales in the global marketplace. My products are sourced, produced and sold in many countries, including Asia, the USA and Europe.

I have an underground lab with an interesting collection of weight scales, resealable plastic bags of various sizes, "specialized" equipment and unique products that are well recognized on the street. I keep a stash well hidden at all times. When my crew and I used to buy and sell in Los Angeles, it was not uncommon to sit on "chrome" and roll in two or more vehicles on a single trip. On many occasions, the goods being transported were very expensive, sparkly and popular with the ladies. There were thieves in the city that made a living just from robbing people like us. They would tail us from the airport or from local hot spots, sometimes stalking us for weeks at a time.

My operation sends out discreet packages all over the world. I supply to an international clientele and many are life long repeat customers. My prices are excellent and quality is exceptional; all of my goods are stamped with an exact purity content.

I pray everyday to LORD GOD for direction in my life, victory over mine enemies, and deliverance from the evil one. I have been an outcast of society from the day I was born. I live the "lifestyle"... Who am I?... I am a second generation dealer... of fine jewelry, also known as Mr Skull.

Capuchin Catacombs - Skulls

The Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo are burial catacombs in Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy, underneath the Capuchin Monastery.

The Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo are a macabre yet fascinating sight to behold. Located in the heart of the city of Palermo in Sicily, Italy, these catacombs are a vast underground network of tombs that house the remains of thousands of people, some of whom have been on display for centuries.

The catacombs were originally built in the 16th century as a burial site for the Capuchin friars. However, as time passed, the catacombs began to be used as a resting place for the wealthy and influential members of Palermo's society, with the tombs becoming increasingly elaborate and ornate. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the catacombs also became a popular destination for local residents, who would often come to visit the tombs of their loved ones and pay their respects.

Today, the catacombs are open to the public and are one of Palermo's most popular tourist attractions. Visitors can wander through the dimly lit corridors, gazing at the rows of mummified bodies on display. Many of these bodies are dressed in their finest clothes and placed in glass-fronted coffins, giving the impression that they are merely sleeping.

The catacombs are divided into different sections, each with its own unique character. The first section houses the remains of the Capuchin friars themselves, with each friar's tomb bearing a simple wooden cross and a skull and crossbones. The second section is known as the "children's section," and is dedicated to the young victims of Palermo's many plagues and diseases. The tombs in this section are smaller and more modest, with many of the bodies being wrapped in simple shrouds.

The third section is perhaps the most striking, as it contains the remains of some of Palermo's most prominent citizens. Here, visitors can see the mummified bodies of doctors, lawyers, and even members of the nobility, all dressed in their finest clothes and laid out for all to see.

Despite their macabre nature, the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo are a fascinating historical and cultural artifact. They offer a glimpse into the customs and beliefs of a bygone era and serve as a reminder of the fragility of life and the inevitability of death. For those brave enough to venture into their shadowy depths, the catacombs offer a unique and unforgettable experience.

Starter Jackets - Old School

Remember the old school Starter brand jackets? They sell now for as much as $300. When Mr SNR was a kid, he never heard of a down filled jacket and thought a Starter jacket could keep you warm... lol. In the 1980's, it was Member's Only jackets, Levi's blue jean wool lined jackets and strange looking outerwear with shoulder pads. Never understood those styles and thank goodness, mom never bought such jackets, only regular winter jackets, for Mr Skull N Roses. The Starter jackets were cool... wore one in 1988, usually with a pair of blue Levi's jeans and a fresh set of leather Asics shoes. Back then, Mr SNR sold silver chains while other kids were still selling gummi bears and cookies.

High Fashion Jewelry: Will trade for baggy jeans

Mr SNR hates skinny jeans for men. What is this... 1985? What happened to a decent pair of loose or wide leg jeans?

SNR on Baggy Jeans, Wide Leg Jeans, Loose Jeans
Mr SNR is testing the waters with a pair of Levi's 569, which are the loosest jeans available in the brand's collection. He had to find a pair via eBay, because authorized dealers of Levi's jeans in the USA are not allowed to ship internationally. It's probably because a pair in Taiwan is priced from USD $100 to $300! Mr SNR purchased a pair of 7 jeans in Taipei and it cost over USD $300! The 7 Jeans for All Mankind don't even fit right (roomy hip and thigh and a relaxed knee my ass)... especially tight around the hips and thighs... they really suck now big time.

Stupid tight jeans trend... we thought we took a step forward with making baggy jeans acceptable and cool (in society, sports, mainstream) and now these dumb kids are taking three steps backwards by wearing clothes from the 1980s and sporting mullet hairstyles. They have no idea what the baggy jeans pioneers had to go through, in the early 1990s, for just putting on denim jeans that were loose and comfortable, while the establishment only allowed skin tight, butt huggers, that you could walk in a Louisiana flood and not get them wet - Let your jewels air out - Live free or die!

Sedlec Ossuary - Skull n Bones

BIKER JEWELRY INSPIRED BY CHURCHES
The art and motifs expressed in biker jewelry can found in churches, cemeteries and cathedrals located all over the world. This form of artistic expression (what Mr SNR calls Skull Hill Artistry) comes from various time periods in history. Skillful artisans and architects made large, elegant sculptures, beautiful stained glass panels for illustrating stories in the Bible, as well as architectural designs, such as well known gothic, dedicated to the One GOD Almighty and to inspire people worldwide.

Today, we will show you a glimpse inside a famous place of skull and bones. The Sedlec Ossuary is a small chapel located beneath Cemetary Church in Sedlec, Czech Republic. The ossuary incorporates the skeletons of 40,000 to 70,000 people in its decor and furnishings. Thousands of people who died during the Black Death and Hussite Wars were buried in its cemetery. After 1511, orders were given to a half blind monk to dig up the old graves to make room for new ones. A few hundred years later, a woodcarver by the name of Frantiลกek Rint was employed by the Schwarzenberg family to put the bone heaps into order.

Interesting notes: Supposedly, In 1278, Henry (the abbot of a monastery in Sedlec) brought with him a small amount of earth he had removed from GOLGOTHA and sprinkled it over the cemetery. Some of the skull photos used in other BJL posts are also taken from churches.

Mr SNR riding shotgun!

The Snaefell Laverda Biker Car by Francoes Knorreck
Riding shotgun refers to the practice of sitting alongside the driver in a moving vehicle. The expression was applied originally to the movie depiction of stagecoaches and wagons in the Wild West, in danger of being robbed or attacked. An employee or passenger (Mr Skull N Roses) would sit beside the driver (you!), carrying a shotgun or rifle, to provide an armed response in case of threat to the cargo (silver) or passengers (BJL Crew).
